Where do the days go?

I barely seem to get more than a few minutes online doing the things I want to do.

The day seems to consist of:
1. Get up
2. Go to work
3. Skip lunch
4. Leave late
5. Get home
6. Dinner
7. Life essentials (bills & stuff)
8. 10 minutes for me (if I'm lucky)
9. Time for bed
And then we go round again :)

The In-Laws are now settled in and we are surviving. There are times when I really wish it were just the two of us, but there are advantages. His mom does most of the cooking and the garden is progressing in record time.

I did get a little bit of writing done yesterday. The first time in ages.
Having to visit a different site for work does have its advantages. Normally I spend 2 hours a day in the car. It makes a nice change to have 2 hours on the train instead. I have the writing bug badly at the moment but no time to do any. Oh well, I might get a bit more done at the weekend.

Suggestions Please

I am writing again and need help.

Presto asks his hat for something to cheer the others up after missing another chance to get home. He doesn't get what he wants of course, as he ends up with Talcum Powder.
Problem is, I now need to figure out what he did want and can't think of anything that would link in.

Help!

Any suggestions ????

Gone Nuts

Insanity

As a break from the norm, I thought I should make time and post something.

RL is still far to hectic, but isn't that just the way it always is.
Most of the painting is now done - thank God.
Next job - the garden !!!

Just to make life that little bit more complicated, the In-Law's have found a buyer for there house at last. Good news, but as they don't actually emigrate to Cyprus until May 2010, guess where they are going to be living in the meantime!

Then add in the fact that my Sister-in-Law, her husband and three month old daughter were going to be staying with them for a week at the end of the month, but will now be coming to ours instead.

Our only hope is the sale doesn't go through before then, or it's going to be one very crowded house. I know that come Christmas they will all be here, but that's months away, not weeks. Plus you can have lots to drink then as you don't have to crawl out of bed to go to work the next morning.

Maybe hubby and I will will just move out for a week.
There is a cheap hotel just down the road :)

Oh, and still no more writing being done either.

Writing Mode

I'm actually in the mood for doing some writing.
About time me thinks.

So far only about about one page, but it's a start.
Why do I do it?

Update

A very quick update.

Having just moved house (again), we have no internet access.
It should have been fixed by now but it looks like it will be another two weeks so I am now suffering from internet withdrawal.

I can't access my e-mail at work, but I have just found out that I can get on LJ. Not sure why that is, but at least I can post something and catch up a little.

On the plus side, at least I have lots of time to unpack and get straight at home.

Swimming with very big fish!

It's ages since I posted anything so I thought I should make a special effort.
On holiday at the moment, not back until Sunday and flat broke by the end of it.
Oh well, that's why we have Mastercard right?

Target

Colds and Sneezes

I finally gave in and have stayed at home.

I had a cold over Christmas, and just as I thought it was over, I get another one.
So now, I am lying in bed, alternating between dozing and reading D&D fanfic.

Thanks to whoever nominated some of my stories in the [info]tardos_treasure awards.
I still haven't submitted my own nominations yet, but at least I can do plenty of reading today. I hadn't realised how may stories there were out there.

Because

If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place, just because they exist, & who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Life

It's been an odd week so far.

At the beginning I was busy finalizing the details of my leaving get together in York.
I know I have technically I have already left, but the date had been for a while, and it would be silly to change it now.

Then I had a text from an ex-colleague, asking me to phone her asap.
Turns out her husband had had a fatal heart-attack over the week end.
Makes you think about what's important.

I'm still looking forward to my night out tomorrow, but it will be a bit weird without her there, especially knowing the reason for her absence.

Reunion

Anyone for a spot of gardening?

Well it's official.
I am now on Garden Leave, which means no work, but full pay for a whole month.

Time to relax, put my feet up, catch up with reading and generally do nothing, right?
Or, there's the decorating, the packing and the notifying everyone of the change of address.

Maybe a bit of both.

Bollocks

Half way home and then I saw it - the crack in the windscreen.
Getting it fixed on Friday, but it just so annoying.

Quick life update

Time for a very quick update before we leave for the airport.

I have found another job at last, so in two months we will be moving.
Only need to sell this place now.

I will be back in a week, so will catch up with replies as stuff then.

Bye for now :)

Live Update

Life has been very hectic over the last few weeks.

Find somewhere new to live - check
Put current house on market - check
Find a new job - working on it - two interviews so far, and one wants to see me again, so fingers crossed.
Hubby to make his mind up about getting a new job or staying put - that could change everything.

RL is getting way too complicated now - I need a distraction.

I have no inspiration at the moment, so despite wanting to do some more writing, I can't. I am sure there is a plot bunny hiding somewhere, but it must be waiting until some really inconvenient moment to bite. I might have another look at the Ficathon prompts though, just in case an idea strikes. At least I am getting caught up on reading as I had got way behind on all the recent stuff on ff.net

Beta Reader needed

I need a volunteer to beta read a short piece I have written for the D&D Ficathon. It is for the prompt: Venger – nothing at all – New Moon, and it is less than 800 words in length.

Can anyone help?

I am such a moron!

I can't believe what an idiot I have been.

I have been waiting for inspiration to strike and finally it did yesterday, on the way back from the airport. I spent three hours writing and had just about finished the first draft when we got back home. Great, all I needed to do was type it up, make a few tweaks and another D&D ficathon piece done.

Oh no. It's never that easy. In a spectacular display of the silly things you do when you have not had enough sleep, it appears I took the said draft copy and promptly placed it in the dustbin with the empty Costa coffee cups. No real issue unless it happens to be the day the bins are emptied. I only realised that this is what I must have done about four hours after the bins contents had been taken away.

I have at least re-written it now, but it doesn't read as well as the first version did.

Moral of the story. Never throw anything away if you have not had any sleep for over twenty four hours.
